Obituary

James Dorrell Hancock peacefully went to be with the Lord on September 27, 2026, surrounded by the love of his family. His faith was the foundation of his life, and he now rests in the eternal presence of his Savior."

Funeral services will be Saturday, October 3, 2026 at 1:00 p.m. at Macedonia Church of Christ, followed by internment at Pinecrest Memorial Gardens. Baxter Brothers Funeral Home is in charge of the final arrangements.

James also known as "Han" was born on May 17, 1971 to Nathaniel James Hancock and Margaret Linda Hancock.

He was baptized at an early age at the Burns Springs Church of Christ. He was a graduate of the Maury County School System and attended Mt Pleasant High School. He was a certified and licensed General Contractor.

Dorrell committed his life to the Lord at a young age, and his walk with Christ shaped every chapter of his story. A familiar and trusted face in the community, he was the go-to handyman, always ready to lend his skills—especially to the elderly, whom he served with patience and care. As the neighborhood barber, he offered more than just haircuts; he shared laughter, encouragement, and friendship. His devotion to family was evident in the tender way he cared for his father’s grooming needs during his time in the nursing home. In the evenings, he found joy in strolling through the neighborhood with his beloved granddaughter, Ellie, and their faithful dog, Prissy. His life was marked by quiet acts of service, deep compassion, and a steadfast faith that touched everyone who knew him.

He was a superfan of Florida State Football and Louisville Men's Basketball. He also enjoyed any sports his children and nieces and nephews played. He was a self proclaimed Oak Park Basketball legend. Many

games were played in Oak Park and to let him tell it, he was the ONE. Dorrell had a story for any occasion. Some were true and A LOT was false. He lit up any room he entered and was the only entertainment you needed. He will be deeply missed.

He was proceeded in death by both sets of grandparents Frank & Mai Bell Renfro and N.A. and Addie Hancock. and sisters, Lisa and Monica Hancock.

In addition to his parents Mr. and Mrs. James and Margaret Hancock, he is survived by his loving wife, Chrislynn Hancock, Children; Cavayah, Jerrell “Jay” and Demarey.
