Jacola Harriett Bone Gaines, resident of Columbia, TN., died at home on April 24, 2026. Jacola was born to the late Reverend Earl T. and Mary Bone in Chattanooga, TN on August 6, 1936. Jacola came to Columbia, TN in 1955, when her father was assigned to pastor Wayman Chapel AME Church. Jacola worked at Tennessee Knitting Mills until it closed and then she worked at Maury Regional Medical Center in Environmental Services, until her retirement in 2010. Jacola was an active member of Wayman Chapel AME church where she sang in the choir, played the piano, taught Sunday School, Bible Study and served in the Lay and Missionary. Jacola was a giver. She supported many charities and her church.  Jacola was an avid reader. She enjoyed spending time with anyone who would come and visit. She was full of laughter. Even in her last days, she was cutting up with the nurses and her doctor.

Funeral Saturday April 2 at 12 noon at Wayman Chapel AME Church.  The body will lie instate Fri from 12 to 3 at Baxter Bros Funeral Home with Visitation from 5 to 7 at Wayman Chapel.  Burial Monday 10:00 at Polk Memorial Gardens.
